Spartans defeat Cougars in District Showdown
The Spartans knock off Killian 10-9. The Spartans were led by Rene Lozano pitching 5 strong innings giving up one earned run. Loren Roy pitched the final 4 innings for the win. The offense was led by Freshman Christian Khawam with 3 hits. Juan Gomes had 3 hits and Ralfy Salgueiro had the game tying hit in the bottom of the 6th with 2 rbi's. Adrian Fernandez came up huge with the game winning hit in the bottom of the 10th. the Spartans are now 15-7 and 7-2 in District 16-6A.
Hernandez, Spartans walk-off with win over Barracudas
Southridge Spartans shock Coral Reef 11-9 with a walk off homerun in the bottom of the 7th by senior Nico Hernandez. The game was a seesaw battle from the first inning as Coral Reef scored 1 unearned run. The Spartans struck back with a run in the bottom of the 1st. The Spartans jumped out to 6-2 lead after three and Coral Reef came back and tied in the top of the 6th. Coral Reef took a 1 run lead going into the bottom of the 7th then the Ridge exploded for three runs for the win. The offense was lead by Nico Hernandez going 3-5 with 2 homeruns and 4 rbi's. He also got the win on the mound. The Spartans are now 14-7 and 6-2 in second place in District 16-6A.
Spartans start second half of season with win over Krop
The Spartans defeat Krop High 3-2. Junior Kyle Rogers pitches 3 and Senior Nico Hernandez combine for a 2 hitter. Junior Bolly Fernandez rips a game winning two run double in the top of the 5th inning. The Spartans are now 13-6 and 5-1 in District 16-6A.
